Guerilla’s In Your Midst

Guerilla, Starts 31st January 2009

UKURBANCULTURE kicks off the New Year with an exclusive programme for 2009. “Guerilla” will run as a bimonthly event and continues the group’s musical philosophy of showcasing the very best in underground local and national artists from the urban scene. Over a period of six months lesser known artists will be given the chance to perform to crowds at a variety of venues around Leicester.

At the end of the six months all artists featured in the “Guerilla” run will be given the chance to unite alongside headline acts in JAMFEST 09, a Leicester-based gathering of art forms and styles including dancers, MCs, DJs and street artists.

The first instalment of “Guerilla” is to be held at the end of January and focuses on UK Hip Hop, the second will be shared across two venues warming up with Dubstep and overlapping into DnB, the third event, scheduled for May, will host a variety of bands with a distinct urban connection.

The main focus of “Guerilla” will be the promotion and exposure of talented individuals on a local scale. The events will also help to raise awareness of JAMFEST 09, allowing different crowds with varying tastes to participate in the cross-genre event.

UKURBANCULTURE backs an array of the finest local talent aiming to raise their profile on a local and national scale whilst offering them the chance to unite and collectively secure the future and prosperity of a much-loved culture. We are a group of urban aficionados with a love for all things gritty, grimey and fresh and it is the mission of UKURBANCULTURE to champion the UK urban movement and all those who contribute towards it.
